In 1942, Andy was born in Budapest, Hungary to a Jewish mother and father.

His father was murdered by the Nazis. Once Hungary was under Nazi control, it seemed Andy’s family was destined for extermination in Auschwitz. But he along with his mother and grandmother narrowly avoided a forced train ride out of the city. Instead, they suffered near starvation in the Jewish ghettos of Budapest.

“It’s important for children to stand up for each other to make sure justice prevails.”

“It is unjust that a group would set upon an individual. If children learn how to be responsible for each other and how to value each other then we can have a better society. Kids, please, please learn from the mistakes of the past.”
